Modern Shelf
This shelf was born when I was pulling a lot of really nice baltic birch out of the architecture department dumpster at Ohio State. It started as a simple S shape with box joints on the corners. Over time the piece sagged badly under its own weight and was also too deep. After about a year I redid it, making it thinner and adding in the walnut supports. I think the piece is overall much visually stronger since the redo. Mounting system uses a clever (if I do say so myself) and hidden custom hardware bracket that is close to invisible unless you're looking for it. Polycrylic finish.
